Bradford

17th March

The first session of the course was held at the Madni Masjid in Bradford on Saturday. Louise Martin, the course tutor, had prepared a short powerpoint introduction to Archaeology which the ladies of the Inpiring Women Group discussed. The ladies had lots of interesting questions about archaeology they had come across such “what is the largest stone at Stonehenge?” “How old is the Uffington White Horse?” and “How do we date pottery?”.

The timeline created by the ladies in Bradford using photographs and real artefacts.

The group then put together a timeline and tried to place photographs of artifacts in the right places based on the discussion we had earlier. Louise had also brought along some real artifacts including a flint flake, a roman brooch, some samian ware, clay pipe stalks and some more modern pottery. The group had great fun trying to place the objects in the correct places on the timeline.

The next session will be a field visit to Bolling Hall.
